this image haunts me
Last night, Matty and I ordered some fab takeout from Wild Ginger and then hung out on the couch until two o'clock this morning: he was up playing with his new cell phone and I was looking for reclaimed farmhouse flooring. When I awoke four and a half hours later, I was exhausted but unable to sleep so I played with Pinks a bit and then occupied myself with my iPhone until I fooled myself into thinking I had gotten a good night's rest and hopped out of bed.
I had things to do: I wanted to take pictures of the house for Apartment Therapy's Spring Cure 2010 , blog about the massive de-cluttering and redecorating I'm embarking on today and get to work. I was excited at the prospect of the day before me and determined not to let the gales get the best of me. Instead, I would pretend I was on the rain swept moors of England and content myself indoors for the day. I raced Pinks into the kitchen, both of us eager to begin the day.
That's when I discovered that we're out of coffee.
Well, not out of it. We have one pod left, which is like being out of it because if I drink it, my Matty will have none when he awakes in a few and well, that would just be cruel.
Suddenly, my first lovely moments of the morning - the ones I had envisioned spending snapping pics while the Keurig did its 30 second thang - have morphed into ones spent cast adrift on the rain splattered streets of Hoboken.
Reader, I apologize for this lackluster post but coffee trumps everything for this girl and her boy and I can't waste another moment sitting here before the keys - even on a rainy day Saturday when the sleep is still in the corner of my eye and yes, even despite having given away my fabulous barely worn Michael Kors rain boots (ugh, I'm reduced to wearing my Slogger gardening shoes this morning, I'm afraid).
So, it's out into the world I go... well, just around the corner and a few blocks up, actually, to Dames Coffee where not only will I purchase a delightful heart foamed latte, but also a scone from Balthazars!
I will return later today to blog about my original topic, so if you're stuck inside on this rainy day, check back later to see what I've gotten myself into...
Later...
I told you I would return! As I was heading out to Dames, I ran into my upstairs partner in crime, Dara, who offered me some Keurig cups from her personal collection! Woo hoo, no walking in the rain, instead I walked upstairs and borrowed 4 K-cups!
Upon return to Headquarters, I began my day the way it was meant to begin: drinking coffee, taking and uploading some snaps of the house and blogging all of my ideas for our upcoming DIY projects in massive detail over at my personal blog, LaPointe of It All. Check it out on this rainy day- it's a doozie of a post !!
A rainy day here as well...though not one I have filled with quite as much purposeful activity. I feel (fear) I am coming down with a cold--the first of the school year! (some sort of record for me) Curtis is sleeping the day away (after working the night away) and I am unmotivated to do much in the midst of my silent existence in our tiny apartment. I was out most of the morning but now, feeling under the weather, just want to curl up inside as well.
ReplyDeleteHere's to stealing some of your inspiration for productivity.
To run out of coffee in our house is a tragedy as well. LOL Glad you had a nice neighbor come to the rescue!
ReplyDeleteJust out visiting on this rainy weekend! Take care :)
